Bronze Good Citizen Award

This class follows on and builds on the exercises learnt in the Puppy Foundation Course. 

We will cover:

  • Control of your dog at a gate or door- very important for safety and good manners.

  • Walking on the lead amongst other dogs.

  • Coming away from other dogs on command.

  • Recall & instant response when required to return to the handler

  • Body language

  • Stand up for your dog

  • Preparing dog for vet examination.

  • Grooming.

  • Stay exercises.

  • Focus and attention around other dogs

  • Greeting people without jumping up

  • Dog law

  • and more ...

Silver Good Citizen Award

Once the Bronze award has been achieved you can go on to train for the Kennel Club Silver Good Citizen Award.

We will cover:

  • Recall away from distractions, for example from interacting with other dogs

  • Stay for 2 minutes

  • Control entering and exiting a vehicle

  • Handling for vet examination by a stranger

  • playing and engaging with a dog, increasing motivational toy drive

  • Distancing yourself from your dog in a steady wait position and recalling your dog to you

  • Road walking on a loose lead

  • Wait at kerb

  • Greeting without jumping up

  • food manners around owners and strangers 

  • and more ...

Gold Good Citizen Award - The ultimate Good Citizen Test

This is a real challenge but once achieved there is no doubt that both dog and handler are Good Citizens! 

We will cover:

  • Road walking, including changes of pace. Distraction to be included such as pushchairs, bicycles, umbrellas etc..

  • Dog to walk off lead beside handler with left and right turns.

  • Down stay for 2 minutes with handler out of sight for half a minute.

  • Relaxed Isolation - dog to be left for up to 5 minutes and must remain relaxed and comfortable to do so. This exercise is taught and carried out under close supervision to ensure the safety of all concerned.

  • Send the dog to bed - an exercise that is sending the dog away from the handler in a happy manner.

  • Emergency Stop the dog- it is essential that your dog can be stopped on command in the event of an emergency.

  • Food manners - building on the exercise covered in the Silver course.

  • Examination of the dog by a stranger

General Pet Obedience & Fun Sports sessions

We incorporate a variety of Dog Sports, Activity Sessions and fun throughout all of our classes. 

 

Those fit, busy dogs that need a new job to increase their mental stimulation and keep them occupied, those fearful dogs that lack confidence who need activities to increase their confidence and resilience, those older dogs that still have a busy active mind that need activities that allow them to fulfil their full potential. Here at Pawsome, we are fun, friendly and for all!

Whether you are looking to compete, earn badges or rosettes, or just enjoy spending time with your dog we can cater to your needs. 
We see, everyday the relationships that grow and blossom between dog and owner through participation in these activities and the opportunity to spend quality time together.
